🌿 What is Cystic Fibrosis? 🌿
Cystic Fibrosis is an inherited condition where the lungs and digestive system become clogged with sticky mucus. It can cause problems with breathing and digestion from a young age. Eventually the lungs will become increasingly damaged and may stop functioning. Symptoms include; recurring chest infections, salty skin, sustaining a low BMI, frequent cough, diarrhoea, wheezing and shortness of breath. Aswell as this, it causes infertility within many males. It is also likely to develop other conditions such as diabetes or osteoarthritis.

🍥 Who can get it? 🍥
Anyone can get it and it mostly develops at a young age. Most cases are now identified at birth through a screening process.

✨ Statistics ✨
It’s estimated that 1 in every 2,500 babies born in the UK has cystic fibrosis. More than 33,000 Americans have cystic fibrosis. There are over 70,000 worldwide
